By Rail
         Adjudged “Best Maintained Railway Station” of the Southern Railways many a time, Tiruchirappalli junction is the nucleus of the Southern Railways.  It connects Chennai, Thanjavur, Chidambaram, Madurai, Tirupathi, Turicorin, Tenkasi, Quilon  Rameswaram, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Mysore, Kochi, Kanyakumari and Mangalore.

 

By Road
         The city is a junction of almost all the state Highways and some of the National Highways.  One can easily reach any place in the state boarding a mofussil bus, long-route express buses and luxury coaches in the city.
 

By Local Transport
         The main mode of transport within the city is town buses plying through all the routes in the city.  The city has two bus stands. One in the southern part of the city, namely the Central Bus stand, and another in the northern part of the city, namely Chatram Bus stand.  To supplement the town bus service there are taxies, auto-rickshaws and cycle rickshaws.
