The Govt. in their G.O.(D). No.86 Municipal Administration & Water Supply Department dated 06.03.2002 have issued necessary notification for constituting the following six standing committees namely:

Accounts Committee

Education Committee

Public Health Committee

Taxation & Finance Committee

Town Planning Committee

Works Committee

Accordingly members to all the above standing committees have been elected by election for the purpose, and the following members have been elected as standing committee members for the respective committees.

1. Accounts Committee:

This committee is looking after the functions of verifying receipts and expenditure of this corporation and approving audit remarks.

2. Education Committee:

The main functions of this committee are maintenance of corporation school buildings, purchase of tools and plants and sanctioning files relating to Noon Meal centers, parks and playgrounds.

3. Public Health Committee:

This Committee is looking after the functions of public Health activities maternity centers, I.P.Project –V, eradication of malaria, solid waste managements, purchase of medicines, and produce of new vehicles.

4. Taxation and finance committee:

This committee has been empowered with the functions about the correctness of assessments of Property Tax, transfer of land tax, lending of land to other departments on lease basis, eviction of encroachments. This committee has also empowered with the functions of scrutiny of financial commitment subjects received from other committees.

5. Town Planning Committee:

This committee will consider on the issue of planning and developments besides scrutinising the planning files and records.

6. Works Committee:

This committee is looking after the works regarding laying of roads, improvements of slum areas formation of private roads and construction of school buildings, toilets, hospitals etc.,

This committee is also looking after the works relating to street light maintenance and construction of culverts etc.
