One Elected representative among the total number of 60 elected councilors is elected as member of appointment committee. Thiru. A.P. Kulanthaivelu, Councilor for ward No.17 has been elected as member of appointment committee, and is continuing as such in the said post. The appointment committee is the competent authority for making fresh appointments, promotions to staff and disposal of appeal petitions.
